Part 2. Utilize Android’s Backup & Restore Feature

One of the easiest ways you can do to transfer photos and other phone contents from an old android to a new one is by utilizing its Backup & Restore feature.

First thing you need to do is to create and setup backup on the old android and simply restore it on to the new one.

Strong Reminder:

You are unable to restore backups from an android with a higher version on to a new device with a lower android version.

How to Backup An Old Android Phone

  1. First, you need to set up a backup on the old android device. Go to Settings on your phone
  2. Scroll down and go to Backup & Restore. Some device settings may need you to go to System then Backup & Restore. Check your manufacturer’s guide on where to find this feature.
  3. Make sure that Google Drive toggle bar is turned on. If not, toggle it on and tap Backup Now

That’s it! You don’t have to go through a lot of steps to set up a backup.

How to Restore Backup to A New Android Device

  1. First, make sure your new android device is ready and with enough battery to support the restoration.
  2. Follow the onscreen prompts until you get to the restore backup from another device screen.
  3. Select the device you need to restore the backup from and select Copy your Data
  4. Choose Backup from an Android phone under the restore options screen.
  5. Log in to the same Google account you have used during the backup
  6. Select the most recent backup (or other backups you wish to use) and then tap Restore
  7. To restore apps, tap Apps and choose the apps you want to move to the new device
  8. Continue the whole setup process while the restoration is still going on

Notes:

Be sure that you are connected to a Wi-Fi network for the restoration process to fully take place.
Part3. Transfer Phone Contents Using Bluetooth

If your main concern on your new Android device is the pictures you had from the old Android phone, then you can also use the Bluetooth to transfer them wirelessly.

Perhaps everyone might have used it in any way, but, here’s how you can use the Bluetooth:

  1. Turn on Bluetooth on both Android devices
  2. On your old phone, go to your Gallery or the exact photos you wish to transfer, select them one by one and then tap on the menu and choose Share via Bluetooth
  3. Pair the Bluetooth on both devices and accept the transfer on the new Android
  4. Do this on all the photos you wish to transfer

The only thing with Bluetooth transfer is the time and effort you need to exert. In some cases, there might be incompatibility issues with the device.

Part 3. Using Android Beam to Transfer Photos from Android to Android

The latest trend in file transfer between Android devices today is called Android Beam. This is available in most Android devices which support NFC or Near Field Communication. Most devices such as Nexus have included NFC in their device set up to support Android Beam.

Here is how to use Android Beam on your phone:

  1. First, you need to make sure that both of your Android phones are NFC supported. You can generally find it in the Settings and then under Wireless and Networks. Turn on the NFC on both devices
  2. If confirmed, you can now use the Android Beam. On your old mobile, simply go to your photos and select all of those you only wish to transfer
  3. Make sure both devices are unlocked and screens are on to begin the Android Beam. Place the two devices back to back and you will see a notification on the old phone to “Tap to Beam”. Follow the onscreen prompts.
  4. Photos are then transferred to the new Android device without doing much, simply using the Android Beam feature.

However, not all android devices have NFC included so you might need to follow other methods on how to transfer photos from old Android to new Android phone.
